Thanksgiving: The Aftermath

We weren't going to do the whole Thanksgiving day dinner on Thanksgiving day; since we didn't have the boys we did our dinner Wednesday night. About noon our neighbor comes over and tells us he's heard we had Boston Market for dinner and in his book that doesn't cut it for Thanksgiving and a couple of their guests aren't coming so would we like to have dinner with them around three o'clock? (The best part was that we had our front door open and I didn't hear or see him appear in our doorway. When he said hi and I looked over to greet him I was holding one of my boobs in my hand and saying something suggestive to Sweety while he was cooking on the porch. I was so surprised to have company it took me about 30 seconds to release my grip.)

And in my infinite politeness I said "sure!" I had just drank one of those big cans of Foster's beer so I was feeling very cheery. As soon as he left Sweety asked me what the hell was I thinking and I told Sweety that I thought we'd just kind of been insulted in the invite over but it was too late now.

I have a problem with eating in front of bunches of people that I don't know. Or bunches of people that I do know. The look on Sweety's face when he saw the horror on my face at realizing I was going to have to eat food and try not to get it all over myself was priceless. He is so supportive.

We ate our own big lunch that we had planned and then we all napped before dinner with the neighbors. I just adore how Sweety's mouth gapes open as he sleeps. And here you can see that Tiny dog gorged (I just love her poochy little belly!) a bit on turkey and carrots with Stinky dog before they plopped over and took a nap too.

The dinner went well. We were there for about an hour all together and I managed to not bounce out of my chair from nervousness. And the neighborwife is one kick ass cook. I brought a piece of pie home - pecan pie with chocolate bits in it. Oh.My.God. It was so good. The anxiety I suffered at being in someone else's home was almost worth it.

I am glad that your survived your dinner with strangers. I don't mind restaurants but eating in someone else's house is always a little bit strange. You never quite know what's expected of you as a guest.

OMG, your dogs are just too cute! I love that second picture of them, sleeping side by side! My Beagles do that too :)

And those are awesome shots you posted for HNT!

Happy HNT and Happy Thanksgiving!

I love the way your two dogs sleep together...it's great that they love each other so very much....
Sweety looks so relaxed...He is a very handsome guy, isn't he?

Are you glad you went to the neighbors? The pie sounds AWESOME!!!!

And I did laugh when you talked about holding your Boob in front of the neighbor....lol...

Another Thanksgiving Day has almost bit the dust...

Bonanza Jellybean - When I stepped in their house and saw the pie I knew what I was working towards. As soon as dinner was over I grabbed a piece and ran!

Kat - Thankfully, it worked out well. Don't want to do it again next year though.

Bekah - Poor Oy was comatose for most of the day. And you were right about the shit part!

MCB - It was a very formalish type dinner (by this I mean cloth napkins and we ate at the table and not in front of the t.v.). I was just glad I didn't say anything that could be taken as bad if the EW heard about it and I kept my food off my shirt.

Scott & Julia - When I glanced over and saw them sleeping like that I about feel out of my chair laughing. My atttention was called to them because they were both snoring :)

OOLOTH - I'm so happy that the dogs get along. We'd had Stinky for about 3 years before Tiny came along and I was afraid she wouldn't like her. But they've turned out to be best buddies. I think having a puppy around makes Stinky feel younger!

Sweety is a cutie! Even when he's drooling.

I am glad that we went to the neighbors just for the pie alone. This is the same grouchy neighbor who's said some rather tacky things in our and the kids' presence. There were just a couple of times that I had to bite my tongue during the dinner conversation.

Tiny and Stinky look sooooo comfortable in the sun. I'd fallen asleep right there next to them! Too much food, all too good...

For us, it was cheesecake. The nice thing, I made it and know how to make it again and again and again...

Heh, I don't mind eating in front of strangers at all. In fact, I can often be spotted gorging myself on a Subway sandwich while walking to work.

Wait... Is that wrong?

And thanks for your kind words. I need all of the e-blowjobs I can get right now :)

I ended up not getting any leftover turkey for my annual leftover turkey sandwich. I don't suppose you have any to spare?

I love pictures of unsuspecting, sleeping sweeties! Too funny.

Mmm...pecan pie.

Shannon - Mmmm, cheesecake is good too. Sweety keeps telling me he knows how to make it but he hasn't produced anything yet!

Lisa - I guess I can eat in front of others I just don't like being at the same table with them. Eating while walking is a talent, if you ask me.

Heh, heh. E-blowjobs are my specialty.

Bo Snagley - There is a whole turkey breast that the canines are going to be dining on for the next few days. I can't eat leftover turkey. I think it stinks. I'll bundle some up on my carrier pigeon and send it your way.

Zube Girl - Sometimes, I think I like him best when he's asleep.

Pecan pie AND chocolate bits in it! I may need to learn to cook a few things.

It pleases me that I have started a tradition!
