Who Knew?

Did I ever tell you about the time I went to a psychic? I don't think so. This post over at themom's reminded me of it.

It was in January of 2000. A friend of mine had told me about this lady that could supposedly tell you your future based on your palm and card reading. I'd never really been to anyone like that and my friend was all gung-ho about it so I decided to go.

When I got there, I didn't tell the little old lady anything about me except for my name. I even took off all of my jewelry so as to not give clues about myself.

She started off by laying out some cards from a regular deck and pretty much told me what was going on in my life. That she could see that I was working 2 jobs and one of them had me sitting hidden in stacks of paper. And that the wife of the much older man I was having an affair with was most unhappy and it was going to end horribly for everyone involved. (As if that sort of situation could end any other way!)

She asked me if I had any questions and I told her I wanted to know if I was going to meet a man worth meeting anytime soon. She looks at my palm and flips some more cards around and says, "You will meet a man within a couple of months and he will be the one for you. It will be like bam! You don't know him now. He's a little bit older than you and very tall eyes that go hazel to green. He has two sons and they aren't babies." Now, when she told me this, I thought she was out of her mind because I had no plans on meeting anyone with a couple of kids and I promptly put what she said out of my mind.

A couple of weeks after I met Sweety, (this was about 3 months after my visit to the lady), it hit me that he was the person she'd described when he mentioned that his eyes changed colors. We'd already decided to get married so it's not like he told me that and I latched on to him because of what she had told me.

Weird, huh? The boys really like the story about how the psychic told me about them before I even knew of them.

The last time I went to a psychic, she told me I'd die in a motorcycle accident.

I don't know if they have to sign some law of ethics or not, but I think that's pretty much against the rules.

Bitch.

I haven't died yet, so I'm contemplating a law suit.

(I'll take my car to the lawyer, though)

Wow. Interesting. I suppose there are some out there who actually "see" things.

I refuse to see a psychic because I'm afraid she'll tell me I'm going to die tomorrow. And I'd rather not know if that's the case.

But that's a really awesome story.

That's such a sweet story!

I still have recovering-Catholic fears about psychics. What happens, apparently, is that you see one and it opens up your soul TO THE DARK SIDE and the whole thing ends in exorcism or demon-induced suicide. Uh, but I'm sure you're fine. :)

I'm scared about going to Psychics because I don't want to know anything bad about my future. I only want to know good things.

Moooooog35 - You should send your wife up there and see if she tells her that her husband will die in a motorcycle accident. Kind of like getting a second opinion.

Patti & Mike - I generally think that a lot of people that offer this kind of service are full of hot air (I saw a card reader once who was really full of it.) but this lady really knew her stuff.

The Phosgene Kid - Heh, I have that same sort of psychic street.

Bekah & Mybrid - I would worry about hearing about my death too. Before I went to see this woman, my friend that had been there before told me that the psychic lady had told her previously that she wouldn't tell you if she saw your death. She'd tell you bad news but not that.

Maybe if you ever go to one you could tell them you just want to hear the good stuff.

Danielle - I have a friend that won't read things like Stephen King's books or books dealing with the occult because she thinks it opens you up in that manner.

I'm so far so good! But then again, sometimes my thoughtbeams actually work in really wicked ways...

Oh I LOVE This Chickie! When you find someone GOOD like that---Well, I think that is rare...! I've been to lots of Psychics in my lifetime...Some were okay; some were Waaaay off, and one was and IS right on the money...! It is my feeling that he really has a 'gift'. And the lady you went to has it too! I can see why the boys would love that story...!

Lady of the Hills - I'd love to go to another psychic but I'm afraid it might not go as well as this time did. There is a town nearby where there are a ton of psychics living there. One lady, supposedly, has a knack for talking to animals. I've been saying that I'm going to take mine over there but haven't gotten around to it.
