Chi Chi is dead. It's my fault. I let all the dogs outside and when Tiny & Stinky were wanting in Chi Chi was still puttering in the grass and sun so I let them in and let her stay out and came in the house to do a couple of things. I was in for maybe 10 minutes as the most. She fell into the pool and it's my fault. It happened a half hour ago.

I'd like to thank everyone that offered condolences or shared their pet stories. You really did make me feel better. Thank you.

Oh Chickie...I'm so sorry.

It was her time. It's not your "fault" She wasn't strong enough for "life" as we live/know it.She didn't suffer a long painful illness. In her wisdom maybe she knew it was her time. animals go off to be alone when they know it's their time. I believe they truly "know" these things. She knew she was loved.

Chickie, I'm crying for you. Think of how comfortable you made her over the last couple of months. You were really GOOD to her. What dog could ask for more?

I can't tell you how sorry I am. I know it hurts deeply to lose a pet. You have my deepest sympathies. She was lucky to have her time with you and you with her.

I'm so sorry for you, believe it or not my 24 year old cat also fell into the pool a few years ago now, but even tho' I was right there she was still no good after I fished her out. She had to be taken to the vet anyway. It wasn't your fault, and she was so loved by you. Take care.

I'm so sorry. I have to believe that sometimes it is just time for them to leave us.

We used to raise ducks. One day I found a duck egg outside the duck house, obviously kicked out by the hen. I picked it up and was looking at it when I saw something inside move. I spent the next twenty five hours incubating the duck egg on my chest on the couch. It hatched on my chest, and I re-introduced it to the hen, but after a few days, she rejected it, and although I tried to raise it inside, it died in my hand.

Sometimes it's just time. My last husky dog was like that. I cried my eyes out, but it was just time. I dunno.

They leave us the better for having known them, don't they? I've always thought so.

What a horrible experience something like that is! My heart goes out to you. From the looks the adorable Chi Chi in a Crown Royal bag on the post below this, Chi Chi did not know a day without love and Chi Chi had seen many days.

It is not your fault that Chi Chi died. Your intention was to let him stay out and enjoy the sun because that's what he wanted to do. It's probably something you've done lots of times and it's been just fine. Are you sure Old Man Time didn't just come for him and he fell in the pool in his dying fall? There would have been noise if he was fighting it.

Either way, the sad truth of life is we can't go back and know exactly what happened to land little Chi Chi in the pool in death. All you can do is be thankful that you got to enjoy Chi Chi in your life for as long as you did. I'm sure wherever Chi Chi's little soul is now, it's being thankful that it got to be with you for as long as it did. Even in the Crown Royal bag.

You had love. For that your life will always be better than what it would have been had you not had Chi Chi.

Hi, friends with Mike and he mentioned you needed suppport. So sorry for your loss. We are big pet people too. Don't be so hard on yourself, we are only human and you certainly never intended for anything to happen. Even as parents of children we turn our heads for a few minutes and things happen. It was just one of those random things that happen in life that suck.

Again, very sorry for your loss.

Please don't be hard on yourself. Like phoebe fay said, it was an accident.

Having recently had to put my old and very sick little dog to sleep, I know the guilt a pet owner can feel if they allow themselves to...you mustn't do that to yourself.

.... so what do youthink she will come back as? ; }

honey...
we all know there aren't words that will ease that want you feel...
and we can remind you of this and that all day long,....

but you do know in your heart,...
that the two of you brought joy to each other...
serious fucking joy.

that can't be faked or hunted down...
it just comes along in life..
and getting to experience it is as lucky as you can get.

it's going to be ok.
and it's ok that's it's not right now too.

if you need anything.
i'm here.

Chickie,

You are one of the best dog-mommies on the planet! And, I know that there is nothing we can say that is going to ease the grief and guilt here.

Somehow, it doesn't matter how they leave us, it always feels as if it is our responsibility.

It's not. But, it sure feels like it.

I'm so sorry.

Sending you buttloads of hugs!!!
