I think the world would be a happier place if everyone sat down for a snack of cornbread (not that crappy stuff out of a box) and sweet tea every night at 8 p.m.

..well, yeah, if one LIKED cornbread. sweet tea, hell yeah, but how 'bout somethin' else...
I do like cornbread around corny dogs though. I'm weird like that.
and your stories below made me giggle. you goof. yeah, takes one to know one...
I spent a coupla weeks in New Orleans about ten years back and one of the many things I loved about it was the food. I can cook a pretty mean jambalaya now, and my cornbread is, if I may say, pretty special.
My tip for a great breakfast treat - make cornbread as you usually would, but add some finely chopped hot chillis (not too much, just enough for 'warmth' as opposed to 'burn'). Now, leave it a day, and then cut it and toast it. Eat buttered with organic honey, and a cup of tea.

Chickie, I wholeheartedly agree with you.
