Some Teacher's Aren't Happy With An Apple

In the comments, themom said As for what to hide in the 13yr old's Easter eggs -- hmmm. guess it's too soon for condoms right!?!?! And that reminded me of a little nugget that Sweety shared with me over the weekend.

Remember Mary Kay Letourneau? The teacher that had sex with a 13 year old student and married him after she got out of prison?

We were watching something about her on the t.v. the other night and Sweety casually mentioned that he slept with his eighth grade English teacher. He was 14 and she was 21 or 22. He said she was a freshly minted teacher. He went to parties with her and her friends and to the movies with her. When he started the ninth grade, he moved to another school and that was the end of it.

I asked him what his feelings were about the situation. (Normally, I do not want to know anything about anybody that Sweety has ever poked but this was too odd to let it go without any questions.) Did he feel like he was abused or what and his answer was no. That he remembers it as a good time.

How weird is that?

Sweety said that when he remembers his school years that the eighth grade always seems to be the one that's in color. (Really? I wonder why?) He has said before that he feels like a kid sometimes with the way he thinks and as soon as he told me about this I told him this was why. He got laid when he was 14 and his damn brain stopped functioning.

Let me mention that Sweety does not think it would be okay for his kids (or anyone else's kids) to sleep with their teacher. Sweety is really protective of where the boys go. BigBrother(13)'s teacher had a Christmas party for the kids in her class last year and it was at her house. Sweety was freaking out over whether or not he should let BB go and now I realize why. I was all, "Gee, she seems nice. What could happen to him over there?"

I can't understand why a teen getting some action with a hot chick older would blow it all by crying to mommy. Make hay while the sun shines!!

I like how he described it, "8th grade always seems to be the one that's in color."

Interesting observation.
They say that the emotional development in addicts and alcoholics ceases when they begin drinking and/or drugging.

The Phosgene Kid - I asked Sweety if it occurred to him at the time that he should tell an adult and he said, "Hell no."

here today, gone tomorrow - Yeah, when he said that I just lost it and laughed til I cried because he was so serious. It was like he'd never connected that this incident was the reason he remembered that year so vividly.

SagiciousHillbilly - Exactly! I'm not saying that Sweety is emotionally stunted but I think this could explain why (as he says) he feels like a teenager in a grown up's body.

I never had any teachers I wanted to sleep with. I feel deprived.

That is sort of bizarre... and I would freak the hell out if it happened to my kid.
That being said one of my teachers gave a party for the seniors and served us all booze. Nothing bad happened, nobody got out of hand, we thought it way cool.

Wow. Mark made me get back on the computer to read this... and it was so worth it. The best part is that she drug him to movies and parties, like they were dating. WTF was wrong with her?

It's weird when you're a parent. There were plenty of young teachers I would not have minded when I was in high school. But, now that my kids are that age, I'm very protective. It's troubling enough worrying about all the other kids, let alone their teachers too.

On a related note, I went to High School with Pamela Smart (not sure how popular the story is across the US, but I remember the trial being broadcast on TV). Had the same bus with her and everything.

Personally, I wouldn't have touched that with my friend's dick...but then again, she wasn't a teacher back then.

Just a bitchy cheerleader butter-face.

Mike - To make up for it, maybe you could cruise the nursing homes and make some retired teacher's day!

Patti - Lucky you. I don't recall having any teachers that I'd want to lay eyes on after school hours!

bekah - Sweety said that he remembers how all of her friends were really nice to him and always included him in their conversations. I'm thinking maybe she told them that he was a student that needed help or had a bad home life or something.

Midwestern City Boy - You and Sweety are like-minded. He said it was neat when it was happening to him but the idea of BB doing that sort of thing is stomach turning.

moooooog35 - Oh yeah, I remember her. She grew up to be a crazy butter face.

I think Sweety's experience is very interesting. And it sounds like it was MUTUAL CONSENT! So, why would he feel abused? And to me it doesn't seem weird...it just seems like somethibg that could happen in an easy way....Don't get me wrong, I don't think it is a GREAT idea.....But, I do think this probably happens much more than we know.

That's nasty. What is with these adults? I see a kid BB's age and even if he's a good looking kid, he's STILL a kid! Ick, Ick, Ick.

Lady of the Hills - I agree with you on it happens more than we know. People are strange.

Ginamonster - True! Like, what the hell do you talk about with a kid? Pokemon?
